Biotox is een door de Europese Unie gesubsidieerd onderzoeksprogramma naar toxische stoffen in o.a. schaaldieren. Het Biotox project wordt uitgevoerd door een consortium van internationaal gerenommeerde onderzoeksbureaus en instellingen zoals: Animal Sciences Group (Nederland), Marine Institute Ireland, RIKILT Institute for Food safety (Nederland), The Norwegian School of Veterinary Science, National Veterinary Institute (Noorwegen), National University of Ireland, University of Modena (Italië), Food safety Authority of Ireland, Scientific Institute of Public Health (België), Oyster Creek (Ierland), Biosense Laboratories (Noorwegen), Institute Francais de Recherche pour L’Exploitation de la Mer.
